Anxiety: What to Do?
Anxiety is an activating emotion that arises in response to stress, external pressures, or uncertainties. It prepares the body to act, but when not managed properly, it can cause overload and imbalance.
How to cope with anxiety:
Anxiety requires both movement and deceleration at the same time. It needs walks, runs, stretches (movement), and for us to slow down the hectic pace of our lives (more breaks, reducing stimuli, setting limits on the number of work hours). Here are some ways to cope with anxiety:
Move your body: Anxiety loves movement. Stretching, walking, or even engaging in physical activities can help release accumulated tension.
Massages: Anxiety loves massages, which help relax muscles and relieve tension.
Planning and Organization: Anxiety calls for clarity and organization. Breaking tasks into small steps and setting schedules can help reduce the feeling of overwhelm.
Validation and Encouragement: Anxiety needs validation of our abilities. Telling yourself that you are capable and visualizing yourself achieving your goals can bring a sense of control and confidence.
Avoid comparisons and criticism: Anxiety feeds on comparisons with others, excessive self-demand, and constant doubt. Recognize your own strengths and avoid placing yourself in a position of constant self-criticism.
Reduce stimuli: Anxiety can be reduced by decreasing external stimuli such as notifications, loud noises, or discussions. Opt for quieter environments, like nature sounds or mindfulness practices.
Relaxation exercises: Deep breathing and mindfulness practices help bring the mind back to the present moment, promoting greater calmness.
Planning Tip:
Define your main goal and sub-goals. Break large tasks into smaller actions, such as reading X pages or writing X points.
Schedule and Organization: Determine the best times to carry out each task. Organize yourself according to your priorities.
Visualize your success: Encourage yourself and see yourself achieving your goals.
Ask for help: If needed, seek support to overcome obstacles.
Physical activity: If you feel stuck, try moving your body or stretching.
